Dr. Bill Russell, MA, MFA, DC, DABCSP, is Coordinator of Dance Injury Prevention at Webster University, St. Louis. He has practiced functional physical medicine drawing on acupuncture, manual medicine, orthopedics and physics for 24 years. Clients invariably offer high praise, commenting, “He’s relieved my sciatica and back pain in a very short time,” and “Dr. Bill improved my quality of life, enhancing my running, biking and golf.” Many clients enjoy his services, including the staff and owner of Pilates + Yoga!



Casey Garcia

Casey Garcia
Casey Garcia was introduced to Pilates in 2005. After 6 years of practicing classical Pilates she decided to pursue a way to share this great method. She began studying under Mary J Brown in August 2012. Now having completed the required 650 hours she is ready to give you a challenging and refreshing workout. Staying an active participant to Pilates, Yoga, running and weight lifting Casey believes in Joseph Pilates philosophy that physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness. What are you doing to attain and maintain a uniformly developed body?!



Chad Estes
Chad has devoted his career to movement education, disease prevention and the application of developments in neuro-scientific (brain) research. His interest in using education and awareness training to improve performance has led him to work in physical education, healthcare,and finally, as a certified personal trainer and certified practitioner of both the Anat Baniel Method and Feldenkrais Method. Chad’s ability to analyze physical effectiveness and build training solutions is one of the foundations for his unique approach to ergonomic solutions.



Chris Clausen

This former conditioning coach with Rams has transformed and deepened his understanding of movement and exercise--bringing an amazingly well rounded and educated eye to re-balancing your body.  Chris is a comprehensively trained Pilates Instructor and leads our TRX workshop/classes.  He is an avid cyclist and golfer who enjoys applying his knowledge to variety of recreational and every day activities.  Chris will strengthen your core and teach you how to move efficiently for function, fitness and fun!



Eli Burkart

Elizabeth (Eli) Burkart
The core is your potential waiting to be unleashed. Core transformation happens with consistent, earnest practice. Eli Burkart utilizes the alchemy of Pilates, massage and yoga to bring her students to their peak of strength and flexibility because even the strongest metal bends with a little heat. Eli has been bringing balance to clients in the St. Louis area since 2000 and is passionate about teaching Pilates and yoga but will always be a voracious student. While keeping up her personal Pilates, Power Yoga and running practice, Eli is also a student of the Aerial Arts. Eli never studied dance, is a natural klutz and her survival of her own transformation from bookworm to push up enthusiast make her accessible and compassionate.



Ellen Hinkebein

Ellen Hinkebein has a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and national AFAA personal training, and Pilates certification. She’s applied her upbeat, effective techniques with clients since 1998 and taught Pilates since 2005. Ellen’s unique focus is on functional Pilates. “Exercise should make your world outside the studio better. I’m always thinking of your long-term posture, health and balance as I teach.”



Erin Davidson

Erin Davidson
Erin Davidson was introduced to Pilates while in college in 2006, and instantly fell in love with the method that she found to be safe, effective, and surprisingly fun! After practicing Pilates for over four years, the only logical next step was to become certified and share her love of the Pilates method with others. Erin holds the belief that working out should be challenging and rewarding, but should never feel like a chore, and is ready to show you how Pilates can improve your life and mood both on and off the mat. Her class will help you lengthen, strengthen, and bring awareness to your body through focus and breath-guided movement. Erin lives and plays in south city with her wonderfully supportive boyfriend and their two pups.



Gina Barrera

Gina Barrera
Gina brings over 20 years of dance and fitness to each Pilates private lesson and class. She teaches and performs throughout St. Louis, including performing with the tap dance quartet "Diva La Tap". Certified in Pilates Mat in 2008, Gina completed her full Pilates equipment certification in 2009. She first became interested in Pilates because her many years of tap dancing and teaching caused foot and leg problems. Pilates helped Gina realign her body and become stronger than she has ever been in her life. Gina loves sharing Pilates, which has taught her to be patient, indulge in the moment, and enjoy the process of things.



Jill V

Jill V.
Growing up, Jill enjoyed a passion for dance, running and yoga. She broke her hip in 2011, and Pilates helped her rehab as she studied intensively with our Pilates teacher/trainer Mary Brown. She has completed her Pilates training and brings an athletic, balanced approach to her teaching, along with patience and individual care. She is also a certified spinning instructor, Yin Yoga and Ashtanga Yoga teacher. Jill believes “Pilates and Yoga can shift not only your health, but your path in life.” In her free time, Jill enjoys her newborn daughter and sweetheart, hiking, and rejuvenating her spirit to bring positive energy to her clients’ mind, body and spirit. 



Karen Shelhorse
Karen’s background encompasses many types of fitness classes and personal training. She started teaching right out of college at The Chicago Health Club, and then moved to St. Louis, heading the fitness program for Brown Shoe for 20 years. Her credentials include AFAA, IDEA, and Medical Exercise Specialist, and Spin certification. She enjoys helping people get the most out of her Body Sculpt and Total Body Conditioning classes, with lots of different props and approaches to meet individual needs, goals, and strengths.



Kasia Radecka

After suffering from multiple back injures and spending a year focused on healing her own body, Kasia brings detailed personal experience along with 20 years’ work as a physical therapist to rebalancing your body with Pilates Mat exercises. Come to class to learn how to move without stress, tension, or back pain. Remember, the simple act of sitting at a desk all day can compel certain muscle groups to become short and tight while underutilized muscles grow weak. Pilates Mat can help re-align, strengthen and lengthen your body with her gentle guidance and expertise



Lindsay Caine

Lindsay Caine, Studio Manager

A former dancer and dance major at Webster University, Lindsay appreciates the importance of fitness and balance in mind, body and spirit.  She has played many roles during her 12 years in the health and fitness industry, including manager, weight loss and wellness coach, and in-home trainer.   

Lindsay was first exposed to the Pilates method as a dancer back in 2001.  She found herself returning to Pilates in 2009 seeking more strength and flexibility after having her 3 young daughters.  Her passion for health and movement guided Lindsay through completing the Core Center’s intense 13-month Pilates teacher training program, studying closely under Mary Brown.  Lindsay’s love for Pilates comes from being able to work with all types of bodies and body conditions.

In addition to teaching, Lindsay is responsible for the programming, scheduling, and managing of the studios, while increasing her knowledge of Pilates and Yoga. She looks forward to assisting you with your fitness goals, scheduling needs and personalized attention here at the Pilates + Yoga Studio.



Lilly Steele

Lilly Steele
Lilly Steele is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and an Aerialist. She can be found performing around St. Louis independently as well as with companies like Quixotic Fusion, based in Kansas City. Lilly is particularly passionate about dance and circus oriented subjects. Growing up she was a competitive ballet dancer winning various notable awards for Ballet. She believes that dance and circus arts have the potential to spread the fun of health and fitness along with physically benefiting the body. As part of this understanding it has become her mission to show people that being healthy & fit doesn't have to be hard, boring or tedious. Working out can be a fun, enjoyable experience that can change your life, giving you that empowering outlook on life. .



Mary Brown

Mary J Brown
Mary J. Brown was introduced to the Pilates Method in Los Angeles in 1994 during an attempt to rehabilitate a back injury. A move to Boulder, Colorado to attend massage therapy school momentarily interrupted her Pilates studies. Upon completion of the Boulder College of Massage Therapy, Mary rediscovered Pilates and was subsequently certified at the renowned Pilates Center of Boulder. After receiving her certification in December 1997, Mary had the opportunity to apprentice and teach with Lindsay Ross, a pioneer in Pilates-based rehabilitation, physioball stability and functional strength training. Mary has worked for over 16 years to encourage her clients along their paths to increased fitness and joyful, free movement. She has taught in Boulder, Austin, New York City, Paris, France, Iowa City, Iowa and St Louis. Her gifted teaching abilities have helped people from all walks of life increase their capacity for awareness, breath, core strength and efficient movement!

Mary is the owner and facilitator of the core center comprehensive Pilates Instructor Education System. She is trained in massage therapy; PMA certified in Pilates, teaches the innovative Core Align System and is a current student of the Gyrotonic Expansion System. In 2013 Mary decided to expand her knowledge yet again, and is now a full time student of the Chiropractic healing arts at Logan College of Chiropractic. Mary is dedicated and committed to upholding excellence in the Pilates community through her instructor training, continuing education seminars and energetic client teaching. She is the creator of many innovative Pilates class and seminar concepts. She has presented her ideas at both national and international locations.



Pam Schulte

Pam Schulte
Pam Schulte is at the heart of the Yoga Program at Pilates + Yoga. She has been teaching yoga since 1998 and is a 500-hour Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance. Pam offers a 200-hour Yoga Alliance Registered teacher training program and takes a disciplined, yet compassionate teaching style which encourages students to "pay attention to the details" and at the same time "go with the flow" of the practice. She brings a light-heartedness to the yoga mat that helps make yoga enjoyable and accessible to hundreds of practitioners in St. Louis.



Regan Johannesen
Regan Johannesen is a full-time Pilates Teacher of 5 years, certified at Body Arts and Science International, as well as completing a comprehensive Pilates Program with the Core Center and Mary J. Brown. Regan has done continuing education with Michelle Larson of Core Dynamics and Rachel and Amy Alpers of The Pilates Center.

Regan found Pilates after tearing her ACL skiing, which affected her marathon running. Pilates helped her rehab her knee injury as well as relieve on-going lower back pain. An athlete from a very young age, Regan has been involved with ballet, swimming, gymnastics, tennis, cheerleading, and running. She continues to stay highly active with Pilates, walking, yoga, Sleek Physique, hiking and cycling. Regan enjoys helping clients at all levels of fitness, from elite athletes to the individual with a budding interest in exercise. She specializes in helping you come back from injury or back pain--stronger than ever.

When not teaching, Regan enjoys music, movies, cooking at home and spending time with her amazing French bulldog, King Louie I.



Scott Stein

Scott Stein
Scott has been a licensed physical therapist for 25 years. For the last 10 years of his practice, Scott has specialized in Neurofascial Release technique. In reflecting on his recovery process after receiving treatment for Leukemia, he recognized that many types of treatments were necessary for optimal healing. Scott continues to practice this philosophy utilizing both traditional and non-traditional treatment approaches as he develops programs and assists his clients. Working with many types of athletes, Scott found is beneficial for his clients to become a certified Retül Bicycle Fitter and USA Cycling Certified Coach. Perceiving the importance of food and nutrition for wellness, Scott pursued formal culinary training. He is married and the father of two children. He loves to bicycle, exercise and cook healthy meals..



Sharon Turlington

Sharon Turlington
Sharon began studying yoga ten years ago. She has studied Hatha, Iyengar and Astanga. She completed her 200 hour RYT training in 2009 with Pam Schulte in St. Louis, MO. She teaches classes in the astanga tradition -- engaging students of all levels, delivering intelligent sequences and guiding students to develop functional strength, physically and mentally. Sharon is committed to practicing yoga off the mat and is an attorney with the Public Defender's Office.



Shelly Kohl

Shelly has been in the health and wellness field for over 16 years.  Before practicing massage therapy, Shelly earned two degrees of applied science, one in Dietetics, and one as a Physical Therapist Assistant.  

Shelly worked at an outpatient sports and rehabilitation center.  While treating patients in physical therapy, she worked with a diverse patient population, and various diagnoses, and became interested in massage therapy.

Shelly attended the Healing Arts Center for massage therapy.  She enhanced her techniques of swedish massage, trigger point therapy, sports massage, myofascial release, and craniosacral therapy, as well achieving different certifications in pre and postnatal massage, hot stone, acupuncture massage, and lymph therapy.  Shelly is passionate about educating her clients and utilizes her background to help them achieve optimal health and well being.



Suzanne Ford

Suzanne has managed many different types of businesses, from working in the start-up of an alternative energy firm in Berkeley, California, transitioning to book editing and working as Editor-in-Chief for a publisher in Minneapolis, planning and hosting large-scale meetings in Europe and Australia, to helping run group homes for children with learning disabilities in Washington D.C. She is currently enjoying yoga, occasional TRX classes and her Pilates training.



Chris Kissel

Chris Kissel
Chris has been in the fitness industry for over 30 years.  She is certified as a Muscle Activation Techniques specialist (MAT).  She is also a personal trainer certified with the American College of Sports Medicine.  With this combination of MAT and personal training Chris will work with her clients to reach their physical goals. "With mobility and strength you will achieve stability.”



Tarraugh Flaherty

Tarraugh has been practicing yoga since 1989 and massage therapy since 1991. Tarraugh’s classes help you drop into the moment to practice the timeless art of Yoga. Her classes are inspired by the Anusara, Ashtanga, and Sivananda lineages as well as Kundalini and Yin traditions. Tarraugh's teaching creates a strong foundation for the practice of Hatha Yoga, focusing on synchronization of breath and movement.

Tarraugh creates a safe and encouraging environment to explore your “edge” of strength and flexibility. She was certified in Thai Yoga Therapy in 2003 and has added Heart Sound Seminars, and The Physics of Sound and Healing to her wealth of knowledge. She holds a degree in Sociology and Certification in International Studies from Webster University. Tarraugh enjoys meditation, reading about quantum physics and health. She offers gratitude to the teachings and to those who support expansion of consciousness and compassion for the entire planet.



Tia Shepard

Tia Shepard
Tia Shepard went to SUNY New Paltz, graduating with a BA in geography, and has worked for New York Rural Water Association and the New York DEC making maps. She is enjoying exploring and biking around St Louis and has thoroughly embraced her new, vibrant downtown life here. She enjoys hearing about your experiences and how the Pilates + Yoga Studio helps you with your fitness goals. (She would love to hear/share your story!) She is exploring Pilates and the new neuro-muscular connections it brings as well as kettlebell classes for strength.

Tracy Stamper, Certified Nia Black Belt Instructor and Nia Next Generation Trainer in Training, is honored to create a space of exploration and empowerment through the transformational movement and lifestyle practice of The Nia Technique. Tracy has been certified in the technique since 1996, and teaching since 2002.

Nia taught Tracy to feel at home in her body, mind, emotions, and spirit, and she celebrates the opportunity to share with others Nia’s invitation to come home through the profound power of this practice. She brings passion, playfulness, energy, enthusiasm, acceptance, and encouragement to her students, blending her gentle approach into rocking and rolling classes.
